Walmart WFS fees · Hazmat

Walmart WFS hazmat fees, and the one nobody quotes you

The WFS hazardous materials surcharge is $0.50 per unit, added on top of the standard fulfilment fee rather than replacing it. It is then charged again, at $0.50 per unit, if you ever dispose of or remove that unit. Both figures are read from Walmart's own schedule, 2026-08-04.

Hazmat is charged twice on the same unit

This is the part a fee calculator hides, because the two charges sit in different sections of the rate card and never appear on the same screen. A hazmat unit that sells pays $0.50 once. A hazmat unit that does not sell, and is eventually disposed of or sent back to you, pays $0.50 on the way in and $0.50 on the way out, on top of the disposal fee itself, which starts at $0.35 per unit.

Stated plainly because it decides something: slow-moving hazmat inventory carries a cost the fulfilment quote does not show. That is an argument for ordering less of it, not for avoiding WFS.

What it costs on your item

Enter a shipping weight. The fulfilment fee comes from the published weight tier; the surcharge is the flat $0.50.

A flat surcharge costs light items the most

$0.50 is the same number at every weight, so what it costs you depends entirely on what it is added to. On a one pound item it is a 14% increase. On a forty pound item it is 3%.

Weight Fulfilment fee With hazmat Increase
1 lb $3.45 $3.95 14%
2 lb $4.95 $5.45 10%
5 lb $6.15 $6.65 8%
10 lb $8.15 $8.65 6%
25 lb $17.15 $17.65 3%
40 lb $18.15 $18.65 3%

Fulfilment fees are the published weight tiers; the arithmetic adding the surcharge to them is ours. Every tier is listed with its source on the full WFS calculator.

Working out whether WFS is cheaper than a 3PL?

That is a harder sum than this page, because a 3PL quote and a WFS schedule are not written in the same units: one prices per order, the other per unit by weight tier, and only one of them usually includes the label. Two ways we can help, and the first is free.

Holding a 3PL quote already? Send it to the free gap check and we will tell you, within two business days, every fee line it leaves out and the exact question to put to that vendor. No call, no obligation, nothing charged.

Want to run the comparison yourself? The Quote Normalizer Kit ($99) takes your order profile plus up to five rate cards and returns one all-in cost per order for each. Its worked example already includes Walmart WFS, priced against three 3PLs on the same 2,000-order month.

When Walmart changes these fees

Walmart revises the WFS schedule without announcing it, and this page is only as current as the date on each row. Leave an address and you get an email when a WFS fee we track changes - nothing else, and nothing on a schedule. To come off, email data@ratecardlab.com and we delete the record.
